Learning how to buy and sell a domain is not difficult. Buying a domain is by far the easier of the two and selling is a whole different process. A person that wishes to purchase a domain usually starts with knowing the "keywords" or title of the domain they wish to purchase. Make sure you use a research tool to determine the most popular keywords and potential domain name before logging onto a domain registrar. For example: you may want to have a keyword like Scooter, or Dirt Bike. If scooter.com or dirtbike.com are not available in a domain name, one can add to those keywords for a more specific or niche keyword like Red Razor Scooter or 50cc Dirt Bike. Those domain names may be availbe to purchase.

Godaddy is perhaps the best known domain registrar with very reasonable pricing, but it is not the only domain registrar site by far. Go to Google and type in: cheapest domain registrar, domain registrar review, or even domain registrar look up and you will find many sites to chose from. Prices ranges from 99 cents, to $5.99 and up. While you are buying your domain name you will be asked if you wish to buy the name for one to three years. That choice is completely up to your preference.

If you wish to sell your domain go to Google again and type in: sell domain name and you will find many sites available. I prefer to start with a site that will provide an appraisal for your site. But, the price can be set for what the public will offer. You may even want to list your domain for sale on eBay and start the auction at 99 cents. If you are a seasoned eBay dealer, use whatever straregy works for you. Listing sites on eBay is a common practice and there are other sites such as: boxcar.com, Seda.com, Flippa.com, snapnames.com, after Nic.com, namepros.com, buydomaines.com and of GoDaddy.com.

Some consideration before selling your site may be:

1. How long has the site been registered
2. Is the domain listed on the first page of google
3. How much traffic has the site generated
4. Has the site generated any revenue

Buying a site is easy and just remember to look at popular keywords or keyword niches before buying a domain name if the intention is to ultimately sell the site. If you are a business owner and want to purchase your company's domain name that is totally different. If your business has a generic name such as Print Shop, that domain may not be available. You may have to use Bob's Print Shop instead. Selling requires some homework, chosing the correct site to list your domain name and pricing it to sell. Domains are considered the Internet Real Estate. Think about buying and selling domains in a similary light. Even domain brokers make a handsome commmision.
