Motorcycles have made their way from the early designs in the 1800s to the variable types that are available in the market today. The earlier version of motorcycle are the motorized version of bicycles with the same size of the wheel.

Several companies were established that specialized in motorcycle production.

Motorcycles are classified on the basis of types, designs and purpose in the present days. They are generally categorized under six main types. They are cruiser, touring sport, dual purpose and dirt bike. Under extra category sport-touring motorcycles are included sometimes. Cruisers are styled after American machines from the 1930s. From The riding position actually places the feet forward in these bikes and the hands are up relatively a bit higher than the usual positions, and the back is slightly leaning back. These bikes are not suggested for a long run but provides comfortable rides at a moderate speed.Chopper is known as the subcategory of cruisers.

Sport bike is the next. Sport bike punctuate speed, acceleration, breaking and control over paved roads. Inside the lightweight frame high performance engines are there for sports bike.Suspension system is advanced in these bikes.

Touring motorcycles are for covering long - distances, as the name suggests. Touring motorcycles are equipped with engines which have large displacements, and front screens and offer air protection, Fuel tank of this bike are relatively bigger in size than any other bikes because they are meant for covering long distances. Dirt bike comes in when we are looking for excitement and fun.Good engines with great acceleration and power are available in dirt bikes, which are light weight bikes. Compared to other bikes the frame of dirt bike are less durable. These bikes are used for racing over rough and muddy terrain or performing death defying jumps.

At times they can be driven to enter off-roads and the machine that can be used in the road. This bike is based on the basis of chassis of the dirt bike and have added lights and instruments which allow them for entering public roads. In the world concept of scooter is not very new.They have been sold for over fifty years now, but they have been developed with style immeasurably but the concept of the 125cc scooter models is still the same providing a convenient travel at a low cost. There are various styles of scooters in the modern days starting from the retro styled to the modern ones with sharp and cool graphics and edges.

Lot of advantages are there over other vehicles as the cost of scooter is very low compared to car. When compared to four wheeler the fuel consumption is insignificant. The basic rule is that smaller the engine size, better the mileage. It should be kept in mind that the smaller the engine size results in less power and low top speed.
